Gemini Spark is a personal AI agent announced by Google at the Google I/O 2026 conference on May 19, 2026. Built from Gemini base models and the Google Antigravity agentic harness, Spark is designed to perform complex, long-horizon tasks with minimal user oversight. It runs on dedicated virtual machines in Google Cloud, so the user's laptop does not need to remain open for tasks to continue.
Spark differentiates itself with out-of-the-box integration into the Google Workspace ecosystem: Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides and the Chrome browser. Users can email the agent directly through a dedicated Gmail address, and the agent reports progress via the browser or the new Android Halo system on mobile. Spark can read emails, draft replies using context from documents and spreadsheets, monitor an inbox and act on the web through Chrome.
Spark is Google's response to competing agentic products such as Anthropic's Claude Cowork and OpenAI's ChatGPT agent. It supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP) for integrations with external services. The product is initially available to Google AI Ultra subscribers; Google has announced a wider rollout will follow.
