Google Drive

Google Drive is Google's cloud file storage and synchronization service, launched on April 24, 2012. Every Google account includes 15 GB of free storage shared with Gmail and Google Photos; additional capacity is available through paid Google One plans and Google Workspace subscriptions.

Drive runs in the browser, as a mobile app (Android, iOS) and as the Google Drive for desktop client (Windows, macOS). It is the central file hub of the Google Workspace ecosystem, integrated with Google Docs, Sheets and Slides.

Since 2024, Drive has gained AI features powered by Gemini models: a Gemini side panel that answers questions about file content, summarizes documents and PDFs, and synthesizes information across multiple files. Drive search understands natural-language queries. Gemini features require a Google One AI Premium plan or a Gemini add-on in Workspace.
