Google Maps is a maps and navigation service developed by Google, launched on 8 February 2005. It is available as a web app (maps.google.com), mobile apps for Android and iOS, and a set of developer interfaces called Google Maps Platform.

Over the years the product has been extended with numerous AI-based features. Traffic and estimated-time-of-arrival (ETA) predictions are improved with Graph Neural Networks developed with Google DeepMind (announced 3 September 2020, improving ETA accuracy by up to 50% in selected cities).

AI features include: Immersive View — a photorealistic 3D view of places (Google I/O 2022) and routes (from 2 November 2023 in 15 cities); Lens in Maps — camera-based place recognition (renamed 26 October 2023); Live View — AR walking navigation (from 2019); and Gemini in Maps — a conversational assistant (from 5 November 2025, extended to walking and cycling navigation on 29 January 2026).
