Index is a mobile app and data-collection platform built by Figure AI, described as "the largest useful robot training dataset in the world." The app collects video of real-world physical tasks sourced from a global network of contributors called "Creators." Submissions pass through a five-stage pipeline — filtering, fraud review, deduplication, rebalancing and annotation — to produce robot training data. The platform processes about 30 minutes of video uploads every second; per 1,000 hours collected there are 373 unique tasks, 1,146 objects and 116 environments. Index provides training data for Helix — Figure's AI stack — addressing the generalization challenge ("generalization is a data problem"). Contributors earn payments for their contributions ($15M paid out to date), and Figure has committed to spending over $1B on data and compute over 12 months. The system was announced on August 25, 2026, after four months in stealth.
