Use cases
Comparing models: intelligence vs costSelecting a model for a budget and latencyAnalyzing quality–speed trade-offsPresenting benchmark results (e.g. Artificial Analysis)
How it works
Each model is plotted as a point in the criteria space (e.g. intelligence on one axis, cost on another). The Pareto frontier is formed by non-dominated points — those where improving one criterion forces another to worsen. Choosing among them depends on preferences (e.g. budget).
Problem solved
How to compare AI models when more than one criterion matters (e.g. quality and cost) and no model wins on all at once?
Strengths & limitations
Strengths
✓Clearly shows trade-offs between objectives
✓Eliminates dominated solutions
✓Independent of subjective criterion weights
Limitations
✗Does not point to a single "best" solution
✗Depends on the choice and quality of criteria
✗Harder to visualize with many criteria
