8GitHub Copilot Business and Enterprise do not use customer data to train models. SAML SSO, audit logs, IP indemnity, access policy management, file exclusions and a Data Protection Agreement (DPA) supporting GDPR are available. The public code (code referencing) filter detects and blocks suggestions that match public code on GitHub.
Data of individual users (Free/Pro/Pro+) may be used to train models (since April 24, 2025), with an opt-out option in settings. Business and Enterprise data are never used for training. For IDE chat / code completions on Business/Enterprise, prompts and suggestions are not retained; for other access types retention is 28 days.
