RLS RM36 is a non-contact rotary magnetic encoder with a two-part design (sensor + RMA/RMM magnet), engineered for demanding industrial environments. The compact 36 mm diameter body and the absence of bearings or seals ensure long-term reliability and simple installation.
The device delivers up to 13-bit resolution, accuracy down to ±0.5°, and a maximum speed of 30,000 RPM. It supports multiple output formats — incremental, SSI, analog current/voltage, and RS422 — allowing seamless integration with most motor controllers and motion control systems.
In legged robotics (quadrupeds, manipulators), the RM36 serves as a joint encoder immune to dust, vibration, and shock (1000 m/s² shock, 100 m/s² vibration). IP68 protection and a stainless-steel variant (160 g) make it suitable for field robots, agricultural automation, and warehouse logistics.
Manufactured by Slovenian RLS d.o.o. (Renishaw associate company), the encoder is RoHS-compliant, EMC certified (EN 61326), and available with several connector options (D-Sub 9/15-pin, flying lead). Module mass is just 85 g with 1 m of cable.
