Airbus SE is a European aerospace, space and defense group that traces its origins to the Airbus Industrie GIE consortium formed on 18 December 1970 by European aircraft manufacturers. After the creation of EADS (2000) and a later reorganization, the group adopted the name Airbus SE (2015–2017). Its legal headquarters are in Leiden, Netherlands, with its main operational headquarters in Blagnac near Toulouse. It has been led since 2019 by Guillaume Faury. Airbus operates through three divisions: Commercial Aircraft (passenger jets, including the A320neo and A350 families), Helicopters and Defence and Space. In AI and robotics, Airbus completed the ATTOL project — autonomous taxi, take-off and landing of an aircraft using vision recognition (concluded in 2020) — and its Netherlands division was the prime contractor for the European Robotic Arm (ERA) installed on the International Space Station. Airbus is publicly listed on Euronext Paris (ticker AIR) among others; in 2025 it employed about 165,000 people and generated revenue of roughly €73.4B.
