The Allen Institute for AI (Ai2) is a Seattle-based nonprofit (501(c)(3)) artificial intelligence research institute in Washington state. It was founded in 2014 by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen. The institute pursues open research and engineering, releasing models together with their data, code and weights. Its flagship projects include the open OLMo language models, the Molmo multimodal models, the Tülu post-training models and recipes, the open Dolma dataset, and the Semantic Scholar academic search engine. It also develops the AI2-THOR simulation environment and the AllenNLP library.
