Joint RoboCup team of the University of Bremen and DFKI competing in the Standard Platform League with NAO robots; publishes open-source code releases.
B-Human is a joint RoboCup team of the University of Bremen (Multisensor Interactive Systems research group) and the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), founded in 2006. It initially competed in the Humanoid League and, since 2009, in the Standard Platform League (SPL), where all teams use identical NAO humanoid robots made by Aldebaran, shifting the competition onto software and artificial intelligence. The team has won the RoboCup world championship thirteen times and numerous regional competitions (German Open / European Open). Its research spans perception and object recognition, self-localization, decision-making, inter-robot communication, and stable motion and locomotion. B-Human publishes an open-source code release every year that is used by other teams in the league, and also develops tools such as the SimRobot simulator, the CompiledNN neural-network inference compiler and the CABSL behavior specification language. The team consists of students and researchers from both institutions and is led by Thomas Röfer (DFKI) and Tim Laue (University of Bremen).
