The company was founded in 2013 by Tom Wagner (founder, Chairman & CEO), a former Chief Technology Officer of iRobot; its Chief Scientist is Matthew T. Mason, former Director of the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. Its key products include the Core™ Robotic Picking System, Dispatch™ Small Parcel Sorter, Scoop™ Trailer Unloader and Stride™ Shuttle Sorter; the company holds a portfolio of about 300 patents. In 2021 Berkshire Grey listed on Nasdaq (ticker BGRY) via a merger with the SPAC Revolution Acceleration Acquisition Corp. at a ~$2.7B valuation. In 2023 it was acquired by SoftBank Group, taken private, and now operates as a SoftBank portfolio company.
