Bing
Founded 2009 · Redmond, United StatesBing is a web search engine developed by Microsoft, launched on June 3, 2009 as the successor to Microsoft's earlier search services: MSN Search (1998), Windows Live Search (2006), and Live Search (2007). Bing provides search for web pages, images, video, news, and maps, along with webmaster tools and developer APIs. In February 2023, Microsoft introduced a conversational AI assistant in Bing (initially branded Bing Chat), powered by OpenAI's GPT-family language models; in November 2023 this assistant was rebranded to Microsoft Copilot. Bing also integrates the Bing Image Creator, a text-to-image generator based on the DALL-E model. Bing is the second-largest search engine worldwide, albeit with a small market share compared with Google. The brand is owned by Microsoft and developed within the Microsoft AI division; Microsoft is headquartered in Redmond, Washington (USA).
