BlackRock

BlackRock (BlackRock, Inc.) is an American company, the world's largest asset manager, founded in 1988 by a group of co-founders led by Larry Fink. It manages assets for institutions and investors across classes including equities, fixed income, alternatives and infrastructure (including after acquiring Global Infrastructure Partners). BlackRock's technological core is the Aladdin platform - a risk- and portfolio-management system using advanced analytics and machine learning/AI, also offered to institutional clients as SaaS. However, BlackRock's growing ties to AI stem mainly from infrastructure investment: it co-founded the AI Infrastructure Partnership (AIP) with Microsoft, MGX and NVIDIA, funding the build-out of AI data centers and power infrastructure (an investment target on the order of $100B). BlackRock is a public company listed on the NYSE under the ticker BLK, headquartered in New York City, operating globally. Its role as an investor makes it one of the key players financing the build-out of AI compute infrastructure.
