The Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO) is a U.S. Department of Defense office established in 2022, responsible for accelerating the adoption of artificial intelligence, data, analytics and digital technologies across the department. CDAO was formed by merging predecessor units, including the Joint Artificial Intelligence Center (JAIC), the Defense Digital Service and the Advana data platform. The office is headquartered at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. CDAO oversees initiatives on responsible AI and the integration of AI into military operations.
