Coefficient Bio is a US AI-native biotech startup, founded in 2025 by Samuel Stanton and Nathan C. Frey, both formerly researchers at Prescient Design (Genentech's computational drug discovery unit). The company was building biological foundation models and a platform using generative AI to draft drug R&D plans, manage regulatory strategy and identify new drug candidates. It operated in stealth with a team of fewer than 10 people. In early April 2026 it was acquired by Anthropic in an all-stock deal worth over $400M.
