Cognex Corporation is an American company headquartered in Natick, Massachusetts, founded in 1981 by Robert J. Shillman, Bill Silver and Marilyn Matz. It specializes in machine vision systems, software and sensors used in manufacturing automation, as well as industrial barcode/ID readers. Its key products include In-Sight vision systems, VisionPro software and DataMan readers. The company develops deep-learning-based vision technology (in part through the acquisitions of ViDi Systems in 2017 and Sualab in 2019). Cognex is listed on Nasdaq under the ticker CGNX and operates in more than 20 countries.
