Concord

Concord (formerly Concord Music Group) is an independent American music and entertainment company headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, founded in 1973 as the Concord Jazz label by Carl Jefferson. Trading as Alchemy Copyrights, LLC, it groups three main divisions: recorded music (Concord Recorded Music), music publishing (Concord Music Publishing) and theatrical licensing (Concord Theatricals). Its labels and brands include Craft Recordings, Rounder Records, Fantasy Records, Fearless Records, Loma Vista Recordings and Boosey & Hawkes. Its catalog spans more than 1.3 million songs, compositions, plays and recordings. Concord employs around 700 people and remains privately held. In October 2023 Concord, alongside other music publishers (including Universal Music Publishing and ABKCO), sued Anthropic, alleging the use of copyrighted song lyrics to train its Claude large language model — a case that became a notable precedent in disputes over generative-AI training data.
