ControlAI is a non-profit AI safety organization founded in 2023 by Andrea Miotti, who serves as its CEO. It advocates for an international prohibition on the development of artificial superintelligence (ASI), while supporting the continued development of narrower AI applications. It operates as a UK not-for-profit company limited by guarantee and a US 501(c)(4) social welfare organization. It is headquartered in London with an additional office in Washington, D.C., and its activities span the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and Germany. ControlAI informs the public about superintelligence risks, helps citizens contact their elected representatives, and briefs policymakers. Connor Leahy serves as its US Executive Director. Its advisors include former UK Defence Secretary Des Browne.
