DigiCert, Inc. is an American digital trust and cybersecurity company founded in 2003 by Ken Bretschneider, headquartered in Lehi, Utah. The company operates as a certificate authority and provides DigiCert ONE, a cloud-based platform for PKI (Public Key Infrastructure), certificate lifecycle management, DNS services, and IoT and email security. DigiCert is a founding member of the CA/Browser Forum (since 2005) and participates in IETF and ETSI standards work. The company is privately held; majority owners are private equity firms Thoma Bravo (since 2015) and equal partners Clearlake Capital Group and TA Associates (since 2019). Key acquisitions include Verizon's SSL/TLS business (2015), Symantec's website security business with the GeoTrust, RapidSSL, Thawte, and VeriSign brands (2017), QuoVadis (2018), Mocana (2022), DNS Made Easy (2022), Vercara/Neustar Security Services (2024), and Valimail (2025). DigiCert serves more than 125,000 customers, including over 90% of the Fortune 500.
