Field AI
Founded 2023 · Irvine, United StatesField AI (FieldAI, Inc.) is a US robotics startup headquartered in Irvine, California, founded in 2023. The company builds Field Foundation Models (FFMs) — what it describes as a new class of robotics AI foundation models built around a Belief World Model that reasons under uncertainty. The goal is general-purpose autonomy for mobile robots operating in real-world field and industrial environments — without GPS, without prior maps and without human intervention. Its flagship product, EDGE, is a hardware-agnostic, on-edge autonomy software stack spanning different robot platforms, tasks and environments. Field AI's solutions are used across construction, industrial and energy, mining, manufacturing, agriculture, urban operations, security and the federal sector (FieldAI Federal) for inspection, mapping, anomaly detection, material transport and surveillance. The founding team comes from organizations including NASA JPL, Google DeepMind and DARPA programs (Subterranean Challenge, RACER). In August 2025 the company disclosed that it had raised a total of USD 405M across two consecutive rounds; the lead round (USD 314M) was co-led by Bezos Expeditions, Prysm Capital and Temasek, with investors also including Khosla Ventures, Intel Capital, Canaan Partners, NVentures (NVIDIA), BHP Ventures, Emerson Collective, Gates Frontier and Samsung.
