Generalist AI

Generalist AI is an American startup based in San Mateo (California), with an additional office in Boston (Massachusetts), founded in 2024 by Pete Florence (CEO, ex-Google DeepMind), Andy Zeng (Chief Scientist, ex-Google) and Andrew Barry (CTO, ex-Boston Dynamics). The company develops embodied foundation models for robotics, trained on physical-interaction data collected via wearable hand-mounted devices ("data hands"). Released models include GEN-0 and GEN-1, presented as a family of foundation models for teaching robots to manipulate objects in the physical world.
