
Italian startup spun out of the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT), developing intelligent humanoid robots based on Physical AI for industrial use cases.
Generative Bionics is an Italian company founded in July 2024, based on research and technologies developed at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) in Genoa. The company develops intelligent humanoid robots leveraging [Physical AI](https://www.robotsatlas.com/insights/physical-ai-what-it-is-and-how-it-works), integrating robotics, artificial intelligence and industrial design. The robots target industrial environments such as manufacturing and logistics. The company holds exclusive IIT licenses for key technologies stemming from the iCub, ergoCub and iRonCub programs. In December 2025, Generative Bionics raised EUR 70M in a round led by the CDP Venture Capital Artificial Intelligence Fund with participation from AMD Ventures, Duferco, Eni Next, RoboIT and Tether. Its first humanoid, GENE.01, was unveiled at CES 2026 in Las Vegas.
