Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. (trading as HII since April 2022) is an American defense-industrial holding company and the largest military shipbuilder in the United States. Listed on the NYSE under the ticker HII (CIK 0001501585; SIC 3730 — Ship & Boat Building & Repairing) and a member of the S&P 500. Incorporated in Delaware, headquartered in Newport News, Virginia (4101 Washington Avenue). HII was created on March 31, 2011 as a spinoff of the shipbuilding business from Northrop Grumman; the name honours the historical founders of its shipyards — Collis Potter Huntington (Newport News Shipbuilding, 1886) and Robert Ingersoll Ingalls Sr. (Ingalls Shipbuilding, 1938). Three divisions: Newport News Shipbuilding (sole U.S. builder of nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and one of only two shipyards building nuclear-powered submarines — Gerald R. Ford-class, Columbia-class, Virginia-class), Ingalls Shipbuilding (Arleigh Burke destroyers, America-class and San Antonio-class amphibious ships, USCG National Security Cutters), and Mission Technologies (IT, cybersecurity, unmanned systems, REMUS UUVs, DoD training).
