HKUST NLP (NLP Group @ HKUST) is an academic natural language processing research group in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in Clear Water Bay, Hong Kong. The group is led by Junxian He (tenure-track assistant professor, PhD CMU 2022). Its research focuses on large language model reasoning and planning, reinforcement learning for reasoning, data-efficient instruction tuning, foundation model evaluation, and language agents. The group releases open-source code and benchmarks, including SimpleRL-Zoo (simpleRL-reason), C-Eval, Deita, CodeI/O, and Toolathlon.
Founders
Tenure-track assistant professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), HKUST. He received his PhD from the Language Technologies Institute at Carnegie Mellon University in 2022. His research focuses on long-horizon reasoning and planning of large language models.
