A technical society within IEEE dedicated to robotics and automation; fosters the exchange of scientific and technological knowledge in these fields.
The IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS) is a technical society operating within IEEE, dedicated to robotics and automation engineering and science. It was founded in 1987, transitioning from the IEEE Robotics and Automation Council (established in 1984). RAS’s mission is to foster development and facilitate the exchange of scientific and technological knowledge in robotics and automation for the benefit of members, the profession and humanity. Its focus areas span robotics (systems with sensors and actuators operating autonomously or semi-autonomously in unstructured environments) and automation (efficiency, productivity, quality and reliability in structured environments).
