KDDI Corporation is a Japanese telecommunications and ICT company headquartered in Iidabashi (Chiyoda, Tokyo). It was formed in 2000 through the merger of KDD, DDI and IDO. It is Japan's second-largest mobile operator, trading mainly under the au brand (along with UQ mobile and povo). Beyond mobile and fixed-line connectivity, the group runs financial services (au PAY), media (J:COM, Telasa), data centers (TELEHOUSE) and B2B solutions (KDDI Business). The company is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange (code 9433) and is a component of the TOPIX Core 30 and Nikkei 225 indices. KDDI is also involved in satellite connectivity (a partnership with SpaceX / Starlink) and artificial intelligence (including through its acquisition of the Japanese LLM company ELYZA).
