Liquid AI, Inc. is an American foundation-model company founded in 2023 as a spin-off from MIT CSAIL, headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It was founded by four MIT researchers: Ramin Hasani (CEO), Mathias Lechner (CTO), Alexander Amini (CSO) and Daniela Rus (Director of MIT CSAIL). The company describes itself as 'efficiency-first', aiming to build efficient, general-purpose AI at every scale. Its flagship products are the Liquid Foundation Models (LFMs) - models based on the concept of liquid neural networks (continuous-time networks), designed for high compute efficiency and the ability to run even on edge devices. Liquid AI also offers the LEAP platform (Liquid Edge AI Platform) for deploying models at the edge, the Apollo app (running models locally) and a Model Playground. Its partners include Shopify, Mercedes-Benz and McKinsey. In December 2024 the company closed a $250M Series A led by AMD (also a strategic partner), reaching a valuation above $2 billion.
