MacPaw is a Ukrainian software company headquartered in Kyiv, founded in 2008 by Oleksandr Kosovan (CEO). It builds software for Apple platforms (macOS and iOS), and its best-known product is CleanMyMac - a tool for cleaning, optimizing and protecting Macs (20M+ downloads as of 2023). Its portfolio also includes Setapp (a subscription platform with a curated suite of apps), CleanMyPhone, Gemini (duplicate finder), ClearVPN, Encrypto and The Unarchiver. In 2023 MacPaw opened an office in Boston. The company advances cybersecurity through its Moonlock division (the Moonlock Engine anti-malware, using machine learning to detect threats), and introduces AI features across its products (e.g. AI in CleanMyMac). MacPaw is a private company known for independent (bootstrapped) growth and remains one of the most recognizable Ukrainian software makers.
