American startup building an autonomous home cleaning robot (vacuum and mop) based purely on vision, with on-device AI processing.
Matic (legal entity Matician, Inc.) is an American startup based in Mountain View, California, founded in 2017 by Navneet Dalal and Mehul Nariyawala — engineers previously at Google/Nest and Flutter. The company builds an autonomous home cleaning robot that combines vacuuming and mopping. Its key differentiator is vision-only navigation: the robot uses RGB cameras (instead of LiDAR) and visual SLAM to map the home in 3D, distinguish floor types, and avoid obstacles. Neural networks run locally on an NVIDIA Jetson-class processor, and data (camera feeds, maps, cleaning history) stays on the device by default, which the company emphasizes as a privacy-first approach. The product launched after emerging from stealth in November 2023.
