It conducts basic and applied research in artificial intelligence, machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision and computing systems. Its founding director was Kai-Fu Lee. The lab is part of the global Microsoft Research organization and collaborates with universities and research institutions across the Asia-Pacific region.
