NEC Corporation (日本電気株式会社, Nippon Denki Kabushiki Kaisha) is a Japanese multinational information technology corporation founded on 17 July 1899 in Tokyo as Nippon Electric Company, Limited — Japan's first joint venture with foreign capital (Western Electric Company). The current name "NEC Corporation" has been in use since April 1983. The company is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange under ticker 6701.
