Novo Nordisk A/S is a Danish pharmaceutical company headquartered in Bagsvaerd, with origins dating back to 1923 (its current form was created in 1989 through the merger of Novo Industri and Nordisk Gentofte). The company manufactures and markets pharmaceutical products, primarily diabetes and obesity medications and devices, including the semaglutide-based Ozempic and Wegovy. Novo Nordisk is listed on Nasdaq Copenhagen (NOVO-B) and as an ADR on the NYSE (NVO). In 2025 it employed 68,794 people with revenue of DKK 309.1 billion. Its CEO is Maziar Mike Doustdar (since August 2025).
