The OpenID Foundation (OIDF) is a non-profit open standards body founded in 2007 and headquartered in San Ramon, California. It develops and maintains open identity and security specifications, including OpenID Connect, FAPI (Financial-grade API), Shared Signals, eKYC & IDA, and protocols related to digital credentials. Work is carried out in working groups open to members and contributors who sign an IPR contribution agreement. The Foundation also operates a conformance certification program (self-certification and third-party) and liaises with other standards organizations such as FIDO Alliance, W3C and ISO. Funding comes roughly in equal parts from membership dues, certification fees and member-directed projects.
