OWASP (Open Worldwide Application Security Project) is an international nonprofit foundation dedicated to improving software security. Founded in 2001 and incorporated in the United States as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization in 2004 (with a European registration as well), OWASP releases all of its resources for free and as open source: standards (such as the OWASP Top 10, ASVS and SAMM), tools (such as ZAP and Juice Shop) and educational materials. The organization is driven by thousands of volunteers and local chapters worldwide. Through the OWASP Gen AI Security Project it published the OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications, a list of the most critical security risks for applications built on large language models.
