Physical Intelligence (also known as π or PI) is an American AI and robotics company founded in 2024 and headquartered in San Francisco's Mission District. The company develops vision-language-action (VLA) foundation models designed to control any robot on any task — pursuing "general-purpose AI in the physical world". Its flagship model family includes π0 (October 2024), π0.5 (April 2025), π*0.6 (November 2025) and π0.7 (April 2026). The π0 weights and code were released as open source under the name openpi in February 2025. In November 2024 the company raised USD 400 million in a Series A round at an approx. USD 2 billion valuation, backed by investors including Jeff Bezos, OpenAI, Sequoia Capital, Khosla Ventures, Lux Capital, Bond, Redpoint Ventures, CapitalG and Thrive Capital.
