Prior Labs

Prior Labs is a spin-off of the University of Freiburg, founded in 2024 by the ML research team behind the TabPFN paper (NeurIPS 2022) and TabPFNv2 (Nature 2025). The company develops foundation models for tabular data — the first family of models pre-trained on millions of synthetic datasets that produce predictions (classification, regression, time-series forecasting) in a single forward pass, without retraining on the target dataset. In November 2025, SAP announced a definitive agreement to acquire Prior Labs with a planned investment of over EUR 1 billion over 4 years.
