Ukrainian defense-technology company designing and manufacturing Zmyi-family unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) used in the war with Russia. Also developing the Tarantula active protection system for drone detection.
Rovertech LLC is a Ukrainian defense-technology company founded after the outbreak of the full-scale war in 2022 by Borys Drozhak, a software engineer who returned to Ukraine from abroad. The company designs, manufactures and maintains a family of unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) under the Zmyi brand (Змій, Ukrainian for "snake"), used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the war with Russia.
The Zmyi family is a modular robotic platform with multiple variants: GRCC Zmiy for demining, Zmyi Logistic (500+ kg payload, Starlink communication), Zmyi Mini (compact logistics, 80 km range), Zmyi Droid 12.7 (strike UGV with heavy weaponry), Zmyi Mini Strike (close-range combat), Zmyi Firefighter (Ukraine's first unmanned firefighting platform), Zmyi Mower (demining small areas), and Zmyi Gripper (evacuation from minefields). Zmyi platforms average 57 combat-zone missions before loss, while other Ukrainian UGVs typically end after 7.
Rovertech is also developing the Tarantula active protection system, using acoustic and vision sensors with AI to detect incoming FPV drones — the most critical threat to UGVs on the modern battlefield. The company is part of the Ukrainian compensation program for domestic technology (up to 15% purchase-price refund). In April 2026, Rovertech UGVs took part in an operation in which a group of Russian soldiers surrendered without direct contact with Ukrainian personnel (reported by CNN). In March 2026 the Zmyi platform won a DOU Awards 2026 prize.
