A French non-profit (founded 2023) focused on AI risk management: research, independent ratings of frontier AI companies, and standards and policy (governance).
SaferAI is a French non-profit (association loi 1901) founded in 2023 by Simeon Campos, focused on artificial-intelligence risk management. It works at the intersection of research and policy to make AI safer - by modelling complex risks, improving company practices, and contributing to standards and regulation. The organisation runs three main streams: (1) research - developing risk-management frameworks drawing on mature practices from other industries (aviation, finance) and quantitative models translating AI capabilities into real-world risk estimates; (2) ratings and accountability - independently evaluating and rating how leading frontier AI companies manage risk, creating transparency and market incentives for safer practices; (3) standards and governance - co-developing AI risk-management standards in the EU and serving as editors for international red teaming standards. SaferAI is based in Paris (6 Rue d'Armaillé, 75017), funded by donations and grants, and its work has been cited by TIME, The Guardian, the Financial Times, TechCrunch and Euractiv, among others.
