Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU, 上海交通大学) is a public research university in Shanghai, China, founded in 1896 as Nanyang Public School. It is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in China, a member of the elite C9 League and part of Project 985, Project 211 and the Double First-Class initiative. Its main campus is in Minhang District, with a historic campus in Xuhui District. The university educates around 38,000 students and employs over 3,000 faculty across 33 schools. SJTU is a strong center for research in artificial intelligence, robotics, machine learning and engineering, with units such as the School of Artificial Intelligence and labs working on natural language processing, computer vision and embodied robotics.
