Sharpa

Sharpa is a Singapore-based startup developing advanced humanoid robotics and artificial intelligence systems designed for manipulation of objects in the physical world. The company focuses on one of the most challenging problems in modern robotics: dexterous manipulation.

Unlike many humanoid robotics companies that concentrate primarily on locomotion and stability, Sharpa develops technologies enabling robots to perform highly precise manual tasks, such as tool manipulation, fruit peeling, component assembly, and operations requiring bimanual coordination.

A key element of the company's technology is an AI architecture combining visual perception, touch, and natural language instruction understanding. Systems such as MoDE-VLA and CraftNet belong to the class of Vision-Language-Action and Vision-Tactile-Language-Action models, which enable robots to analyze their surroundings, understand commands, and generate appropriate actions in the physical world.

The company has also developed the SharpaNorth humanoid platform and the SharpaWave robotic hand, which serve as research platforms for advancing bimanual manipulation. The company's technology demonstrations include tasks such as peeling an apple using two robot hands — one of the classic benchmarks for robotic dexterity.
