Siemens Industry Software (brand: Siemens Digital Industries Software, formerly Siemens PLM Software and UGS) is a business unit of Siemens providing software for industry. The company's lineage dates back to 1963 (United Computing, USA) and the Unigraphics products; it adopted the UGS name in 2001 and was acquired by Siemens AG in 2007 for about USD 3.5 billion. In 2019 it was renamed Siemens Digital Industries Software. It operates under the legal name Siemens Industry Software Inc., headquartered in Plano, Texas. Its portfolio spans PLM (Teamcenter), CAD/CAM/CAE (NX, Solid Edge), simulation and digital twins (Simcenter), digital manufacturing (Tecnomatix, Opcenter), EDA (Siemens EDA, formerly Mentor Graphics, acquired in 2017 for about USD 4.5 billion), industrial IoT (Insights Hub, formerly MindSphere) and the Mendix low-code platform — unified by the open Siemens Xcelerator portfolio.
