Sony AI pursues flagship projects across six areas: Gaming and Interactive Agents, Imaging & Sensing, Robotics, Scientific Discovery, AI for Creators, and AI Ethics. Among its most notable achievements are Gran Turismo Sophy (*Nature*, 2022) — the first AI agent capable of racing at a championship level in Gran Turismo — and the robot Ace (*Nature*, 2026) — the first autonomous robotic system to defeat competitive players in table tennis under official ITTF match conditions. Sony AI is not an independently listed company; it operates as a wholly owned research unit of Sony Group Corporation.
