Starlink

Starlink is a satellite internet access network operated by the American company SpaceX (Space Exploration Technologies Corp.). The service relies on the world's largest constellation of satellites placed in low Earth orbit (LEO), allowing it to deliver low-latency broadband internet across most of the globe, including areas without traditional infrastructure coverage. The project was announced in 2015, the first operational satellites were launched in 2019, and commercial service began in 2021. Offerings include residential, mobile (Roam), business, maritime, aviation, direct-to-cell, and a government/defense variant (Starshield). Thanks to its mobile and field connectivity, Starlink is also used for remote operation and data transfer for autonomous vehicles, machinery and robots operating beyond cellular coverage. The service is provided by Starlink Services, LLC, a subsidiary of SpaceX; the satellite development center is located in Redmond, Washington.
