Starshield

Starshield is SpaceX's business line for U.S. government and national-security customers, publicly introduced under this name in December 2022. It builds on technology developed for the Starlink constellation and offers three main service categories: Earth observation, secure communications, and hosted payloads on satellites.

Starshield is not a separate legal entity — it operates as a program/brand within SpaceX (Space Exploration Technologies Corp.). Reported customers include U.S. defense and intelligence organizations such as the Department of Defense, the U.S. Space Force, the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), and the Space Development Agency (SDA).

There is no distinct entity called 'Starshield AI'; 'Starshield' is SpaceX's national-security satellite program.
