The Verge is an American news publication covering technology, science, transportation, entertainment and digital culture. It launched on November 1, 2011, founded by Joshua Topolsky, Jim Bankoff and Marty Moe, largely staffed by former Engadget editors. It is known for consumer-hardware reviews, reporting, video content and podcasts (including The Vergecast and Decoder). Its editor-in-chief is Nilay Patel. For most of its history The Verge was published by Vox Media; in 2026, following the break-up of Vox Media, the brand moved to PMX Global, a subsidiary of Penske Media Corporation.
