Tsinghua University (清华大学) is a public research university located in Beijing's Haidian District, founded in 1911. It is affiliated with China's Ministry of Education and belongs to the C9 League of leading Chinese universities. The university teaches over 60,000 students and employs about 17,000 staff, operating 21 schools and dozens of departments across science, engineering, humanities, law, medicine, economics and the arts. Tsinghua is one of the world's leading AI research hubs — its Knowledge Engineering Group (KEG) and the THUDM organization have released the GLM/ChatGLM model family, the CogVLM/CogView multimodal models, and the CodeGeeX code-generation model. The company Zhipu AI (Z.ai) also spun out of the university's research.
