The University of Tokyo (Japanese: 東京大学, colloquially Todai; UTokyo) is a public research university based in Tokyo, founded in 1877. It is the oldest of Japan's former imperial universities and one of the country's most prestigious institutions. It carries out teaching and research across all major fields; its main campus is in the Bunkyō ward (Hongō), with additional campuses at Komaba, Kashiwa and Shirokanedai. In artificial intelligence and robotics it is a significant research center — including the Matsuo Laboratory (deep learning, large language models) and the JSK Robotics Laboratory (humanoid robots). University of Tokyo researchers co-authored the Zero-shot Chain-of-Thought prompting paper (Kojima et al., 2022).
