US Army

The United States Army is the land warfare service branch of the U.S. Armed Forces and the oldest U.S. military branch, tracing its origin to the Continental Army established on 14 June 1775. It operates under the Department of the Army within the U.S. Department of Defense and is responsible for ground operations, maintaining active-duty, Army National Guard, and Reserve components. In technology it pursues autonomous systems and combat robotics programs (e.g., the Robotic Combat Vehicle). Its headquarters is at the Pentagon in Arlington County, Virginia.
