GPT-3.5 is OpenAI's series of language models bridging GPT-3 and GPT-4. The models were created by instruction-tuning the base GPT-3 models and were trained on data up to June 2021. The series includes code-davinci-002, text-davinci-002 (tuned with supervised fine-tuning, FeedME), text-davinci-003 (tuned with RLHF) and gpt-3.5-turbo, which powered the first release of ChatGPT. OpenAI began retiring older GPT-3 and GPT-3.5 models in 2023.
