Apple M5 Pro
The Apple M5 Pro is an ARM64-based system-on-chip (SoC) in the Apple Silicon family. It belongs to the M5 generation (Pro variant), announced on 3 March 2026 alongside the 14"/16" MacBook Pro and Mac mini. The chip integrates a CPU, GPU, a 16-core Neural Engine and a unified memory controller in a single package.
The M5 Pro is built on TSMC's N3P (3 nm) process and, together with the M5 Max, is among the first Apple chips to use the Fusion Architecture โ two silicon dies bonded into a single SoC. It offers a 15-core (5 super + 10 performance) or 18-core (6 super + 12 performance) CPU, a 16- or 20-core GPU with a Neural Accelerator in each core, and up to 64 GB of LPDDR5X unified memory with up to 307 GB/s of bandwidth.
For AI, the unified memory and Neural Engine enable on-device inference of large language models (LLMs) โ via Apple's MLX framework, Core ML and Metal 4. Apple states that LLM prompt processing is up to 3.9ร faster than on the M4 Pro (Apple internal testing, February 2026).
